Abstract
Aerosol can prodn. Outer can is drawn from an aluminium blank, shaped at the shoulders and dished at the bottom end and then coated inside with resin mixture lac to guard against corrosion, finally filled and fitted with the second component container. The lac is applied to give total thickness between 10 and 50 microns and must be compatible with the can contents. The blank is greased with zinc stearate and drawn in a press with 10,000 bar pressure. Sharp edges are avoided inside the can to prevent corrosion seats. The container for the second component, only mixed with the can contents when sprayed, is also drawn from aluminium, also coated inside with the same epoxy resin lac in five coats and threaded at the top for the spray valve. After filling, the valve plate is placed on the container and then on the can, beaded down and propellant supplied into the can. Protection against corrosion is achieved, thus possible hazards, explosions etc. in use avoided in that the material remains unweakened.
