Abstract

The yarn (e.g. nylon, acetate, polyester) is passed in a relaxed state through a helically coiled tube under the action of heated pressure air supplied to the tube inlet. Pref. the tube is enclosed in a heated chamber, and the tube outlet is formed as an expansion nozzle. After passing through the tube, the yarn is loosely collected in a cooling zone. The yarn does not contact the tube walls, and is therefore heated uniformly.
