Abstract
A synthetic yarn or extruded filament which has been e.g. dyed, washed etc. is dried by being passed through a duct to which a dry, high pressure, transverse gas jet is supplied. The step of forming the yarn into hanks is eliminated. A consistent treatment is achieved along the length of the yarn.
