Abstract
Articles consist of an assembly of individually preformed tubular elements formed from fibre reinforced synthetic resin material. The reinforcing fibres may be carbon and a filler may be incorporated with a high strength/weight ratio, the fibrous structure being enclosed in an external skin. A suitable filler has a honeycomb structure. The tubular elements are pref. parallel and may be end to end with the intervening spaces occupied by filler. The structures are sufficiently strong and rigid to be used as structural components in aircraft.
