Abstract

A fluid material is transformed into a powder by evaporating the liquid with hot air acting on the particles of the fluid projected by a turbine, the fluid is propelled through the turbine by air charged with fines coming from a previous phase of the treatment. The fluid material is supplied by a pump, the delivery tube of which opens in the lateral wall of a 'gun'. Hot air, charged with fines, coming from a cyclone, is delivered to the top of the gun which is connected at its lower end with a tube leading to the inlet of the turbine, the air disperses the fluid material and mixes with, and units, the fines in the channels of the turbine so that the resulting powder has a uniform grading with a minimum proportion of fines. The process can be used for the preparation of milk powder and cattle feeds.
