Abstract

771,214. Mixing solids and gases in flow. UNION CARBIDE & CARBON CORPORATION. Aug. 5, 1955 [Sept. 27, 1954], No. 22660/55. Class 86 In a vibrational powder dispenser comprising a gastight hopper 10 from which powder is discharged into a chamber 14 and conveyed by vibration along the floor of the chamber 14 to a powder-laden gas outlet 20, and gas inlet means 28, 26 attached to the chamber portion of the hopper and to the chamber 14, the rate of powder dispensing is controlled by varying the distance 36 of a powder outlet nozzle 32 from the floor of the chamber 14. The nozzle 32 has a screwthreaded portion 38 which may be locked in position by a nut 40. Alternatively the vertical position of the (hopper 10 may be adjusted on the stand 44. The chamber 14 is secured to a magnetic vibrator 50 and is preferably made of transparent material for visual inspection of the material being conveyed A dampener coupling 48 of rubber is disposed between the hopper 10 and the nozzle 32.
