Abstract

U-tube heat exchanger has tube sheet with perforations distributed over it to form two concentric zones, each having same number of perforations. The U-tubes are connected with one limb standing on each zone, which correspond to concentric inlet and outlet headers positioned below the tube bundle compartment. Positions of perforations are determined by points of intersection of two families of curves, one being a set of concentric circles, and the other being a set of developments of a circle, based on the smallest of the concentric circles. The points of departure of these developments are spaced evenly about the base circle and perforations are found at equispaced points along them. Used as steam generator for PW and PHW nuclear reactors.
