Abstract
Soft steel contains (wt.%) 0.02-0.08C, 0.15-0.60 Mn and 0.05-0.30 Nb, rest Fe and accidental impurities. Preferably it also contains alloy elements such as (%) V(0.15 max), Sb (0.1 max), B (0.20 max), Bi (0.1 max), Cu (0.50 max), Pb (0.1 max), Cr (0.40 max) or P (0.08 max). The C content is 0.025-0.05% and the Nb is not less than 0.075%. Preparation is described.
