Abstract

Non-ionic additives facilitating dry fiberisation of cellulose to produce a highly absorbent 'wool' are prepared by polyaddition of ethylene oxide or propylene oxide to an aliphatic alcohol or alkylphenol. The product contains 40-65% at the alkylene oxide. It is added to an aqueous suspension of a cellulosic material before or during dehydration, in an amount of 0.01-2% of the wt. of dry cellulose, in the form of an aqueous emulsion.
