Abstract

Phenol-HCHO resin soln. to which has been added 0.05-0.15 mole H3PO4 per 1 mole phenol, at least 3 moles NH3 per mole H3PO4 and sufficient HCHO so that at least 1 mole HCHO per 1 mole NH3 is present in a form not bound by phenol. As an impregnant for paper suitable for use as a core sheet for fire resistant laminates or as a fire-proofing facing sheet or barrier sheet for wooden materials. The laminates are used in ships and in the construction of prefabricated houses.
