Abstract

1,082,603. Spray carburetters. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE DE BREVETS ET D' ETUDES S.I.B.E. Jan. 13, 1965 [Jan. 14, 1964], No. 1559./65. Heading F1B. A choke valve 6 is opened by a solenoid 13 the current through which is controlled by a thermistor 27 responsive to engine temperature. At cold starting the resistance of thermistor 27 is at a minimum so that solenoid 13 is sufficiently powerful to close choke valve 6 completely against its opening spring 19. When the engine starts the choke valve is opened slightly by a suction responsive device 15 and as engine temperature increases, the force of solenoid 13 is reduced by the increasing resistance of thermistor 27 to allow the choke valve to open. A cam 21 on the choke valve spindle controls the past idle position of the throttle valve 2. In a modification the solenoid 13 is supplied with current pulses by a pulse producing circuit, the valve 6 taking up a mean position depending upon the duration of the pulses which is controlled by the thermistor 27.
