COMPRENDE ESENCIALMENTE DOS RECIPIENTES CILINDRICOS SUPERPUESTOS: UNO INFERIOR (1) Y OTRO SUPERIOR (2) CONECTADOS POR UNA SUPERFICIE TRONCOCONICA, RELLENOS CON UN MATERIAL (A) DE TRANSFERENCIA Y UN MATERIAL GRANULAR (B) DE TRATAMIENTO, RESPECTIVAMENTE. EL AGUA A TRATAR SE INTRODUCE POR UNA TUBERIA UNICA (4) TANGENCIALMENTE AL RECEPTACULO (1), A UNA VELOCIDAD COMPRENDIDA ENTRE 1,5 Y 3,5 M/S, ASEGURANDO LA PUESTA EN MOVIMIENTO DE ROTACION DEL MATERIAL (A).
