Abstract
The installation relates to an overhead track (2) along which run suspended self-propelled vehicles (1). This track consists principally of a rolling cable (4) and is held in space by another, suspension cable (3) which passes the top of pylons (5) and describes festoons (7) above the rolling cable (4). The suspension cables (3) and rolling cables (4) are connected to one another by suspenders (11) in the manner of a suspension bridge in which the deck is replaced by the rolling cable (4). The connection suspenders (11) which support the rolling track (4) and, more particularly, those in line with the pylons (5) and in their vicinity, are equipped with a spring (16) which increases their natural elasticity so as to tend to eliminate the variations in vertical elasticity of the track (2) along its path. Moreover, a mechanism (19) is fixed to each pylon (5) and connects the rolling track (4) to the latter in order to maintain constant the distance between this track (4) and this pylon (5), permitting, however, longitudinal and vertical movements and the change in slope of the rolling track (2) at this location. This mechanism (19) comprises a stop (60) limiting upward movements of the track (2), which stop (60) comes into action only if there is no load on the track (2).
