Abstract

In a flat knitting machine with a variable weft-knitting device having boss arrangements for controlling the advance of a yarn guide in front of a slur-cock which is caused by a differential in each direction of the weft-knitting movement and by a variable transmission ratio of differing size, a simple variable weft-knitting mechanism, in which the yarn guide and slur-cock are driven positively by a differential, can be produced if a mounting (46) carries a pair of cams (56, 58) controlling the advance and is movable together with a weft-knitting eccentric tappet, in order to displace the cams (56, 58) together with the mounting (46) by an amount which corresponds to the amount of the weft-knitting movement, and if the cams (56, 58) are individually movable relative to the mounting (46) for interaction with an advance-controlling sensor (72) at the end of the weft-knitting movement, for actuating the differential for a retention of the yarn guide (106) and a build-up of a desired yarn-guide lead for different weft-knitting widths.
