Abstract

The invention relates to a process for improving the sliding or frictional characteristics and the load capacity in a pair of elements having sliding surfaces coupled with one another and adapted to transmit high mutual pressures, at least one of the said elements being made of bronze. In accordance with the invention, the said surface 2 of at least one of the said elements 1 is provided with a plurality of cavities 12 formed therein, which cavities are filled with a material 13 having antifriction and seizure resistance characteristics higher than those of the bronze. The elements are preferably planar, a channel 3 and feed hole 4 being provided for the supply of lubricant.
