Abstract

Un procedimiento para tratar un destilado de petróleo agrio que contiene mercaptanos, que comprende poner en contacto dicho destilado con un catalizador de oxidación de mercaptano sobre soporte, en condiciones de oxidación en presencia de un reaccionante alcalino y un haluro de amonio sustituido representado por la fórmula estructural (*ver fórmula) en la que R es un radical hidrocarbonato que contiene hasta 20 átomos de carbono y seleccionado del grupo que consiste en alcohilo, cicloalcohilo, arilo, aralcohilo y alcarilo, R¿ es un radical alcohilo de cadena sustancialmente lineal que contiene de 5 a 20 átomos de carbono, y X es un cloruro, fluoruro, bromuro o yoduro.
