Abstract
On the basis of the knowledge that it is possible to influence the resonant frequency of a resonator electrically it is proposed to arrange at least one insert (15) consisting of a ferromagnetic material in the cavity (11) in the resonator at or in the vicinity of that point in the resonator where the magnetic field strength is a maximum when the resonator is supplied with a specific frequency or desired frequency. This insert is designed such that it can be premagnetised by means of at least one electrical coil (20), which is arranged on it or in its vicinity, or by means of at least one electromagnet. The device is particularly suitable, but not exclusively, for resonators in devices for producing dielectric heat in thin sheet material, especially for sealing packaging material, having a cavity resonator or coaxial-cable resonator, the resonator being provided with an insert, which is arranged in the cavity and consists of a ferromagnetic material, and being provided with electromagnets outside the cavity, which are arranged such that the magnetic field produced by them magnetises the ferromagnetic insert (15).
