Abstract
1298954 Electro-magnetic relays COMPAC ENG Inc 16 Dec 1969 [16 Dec 1968] 61340/69 Heading H1N An electrical device such as a relay has a rigid ceramic base and a "thermal plastic" member sealed thereto for establishing the environment of electrical conductive elements supported on the base. The reed relay shown has a ceramic base 11 recesses at 31, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38 and 39 to accommodate reeds of which reeds 14, 15, 16 and 14<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>1</SP>, 16<SP>1</SP> are magnetic and are manufactured as a single component which is severed at 45 during assembly of the relay. Reeds 18 and 18<SP>1</SP> are non-magnetic and form fixed contacts which are engaged by respective movable reed contacts 15<SP>1</SP> and 15 when the coil 19, surrounding the base 11 and "thermal plastic" member 12 is not energized. When the coil 19 is energized the reeds 15 and 15<SP>1</SP> engage fixed contacts 14<SP>1</SP> and 14 respectively. The contact cavity 10 formed between the base 11 and member 12 is divided by a partition 28 extending from the base to form two compartments 26, 27 each of which contains a changeover contact set and a respective coil connector 16<SP>1</SP>, 16. The "thermal plastic" may be thermoplastic or thermosetting.
