Abstract
PURPOSE:To compensate the eddy current generated in a permanent magnet or magnetic yoke from a structural aspect and to reduce the effect exerted at the time of the formation of a gradient magnetic field, by forming at least one of the magnet and the yoke by bonding a block or thin plate-shaped magnet element pieces electrically insulated from each other and a yoke element piece. CONSTITUTION:A permanent magnet 11 is formed by bonding a block-shaped magnetic element pieces 111, 112... electrically insulated from each other or by attracting them by their own magnetic forces and a permanent magnet 12 is formed in the same way by bonding thin plate-shaped magnet element pieces 121, 122... electrically insulated from each other or by attracting them by their own magnetic forces. The thickness dimensions D1, D2 of the lock- shaped magnet element pieces 111, 112 and thin plate-shaped magnet element pieces 121, 122 are determined by 'skin-depth' when an eddy current flows to the magnetic material thereof and the eddy current is reduced by making the thickness dimensions D1, D2 thinner than 'that of skin'. By this constitution, a gradient power source can be miniaturized and reduced in its wt. and the cost reduction of the apparatus can be achieved.
