Abstract

Un método para recuperar valores metálicos de minerales por flotación en espuma, esencialmente de menas que contienen uno o más minerales del grupo constituido por óxidos y sulfuros y cuyos valores metálicos recuperados contienen uno o más metales elegidos entre cobre, zinc, platino, níquel, plomo, antimonio, arsénico, cromo, plata y oro y cuyas menas exhiben resistencia a la recogida de espumas alcalinas flotantes, particularmente del grupo constituido por valerita y cubanita, caracterizado porque su realización incluye una etapa previa de trituración del mineral en estado húmedo y formar una pulpa mineral acuosa con el mineral triturado, tratar luego la citada pulpa con una composición que contiene un poliglicol soluble en agua y más del 50%, preferentemente del 70 al 95% y especialmente del 80 al 90% de mercaptano en volumen como colector, de preferencia soluble en el poliglicol, opcionalmente en presencia de otro colector, cuya dosis de la composición en el tratamiento de la pulpa está comprendida entre 0,01 y 0,5 kg del colector de mercaptano con respecto a cada tonelada de la mena elaborada y una vez efectuada la dispersión del mercaptano, se airea la pulpa para separar en la espuma las partículas de mineral en forma concentrada, siendo también posible efectuar la citada flotación de espuma mediante tratamiento de la pulpa con la composición que contiene en colector en varias etapas.
