Abstract

Procedimiento para la determinación del contenido de alcohol etílico de un gas mediante una reacción de color, particularmente para determinar el contenido de alcohol etílico del aire de expiración de los seres humanos, caracterizado porque se hace pasar el gas a estudiar a través de una mezcla íntima de (1) pentóxido de yodo, (2) un nitrato metálico incoloro o ácido nítrico concentrado, y (3) ácido sulfúrico al 75 hasta 98% (peso/peso), con lo que el color blanco original de la mezcla cambia a rosa, pardo o negro, dependiendo del contenido introducido de alcohol etílico.
