Abstract
Oriented silicon steel strip is produced by (A) producing a silicon steel strip with a fine-grained primary recrystallisation structure contg. 2.2-4.5% Si, 1.5-50ppm B, 30-90ppm N2 in a ratio w.r.t. the B of 1-15pts. per pt. of B (B) coating the strip with an electrically insulating, adhesive coating contg. 6-150 ppm B and (C) heat-treating to develop a secondary recrystallisation structure, (110) 001 , in the strip. The amt. of B in the steel can thus be reduced without affecting the properties of the strip.
