Abstract

Método para quemar combustibles carbonosos que comprende las etapas de: proporcionar una primera mezcla de combustible carbonoso y aire; hacer pasar dicha primera mezcla a un catalizador para la combustión de al menos una parte de dicha primera mezcla en condiciones esencialmente adiabáticas en presencia de dicho catalizador, que trabaja a una temperatura sustancialmente por encima de la temperatura de auto-ignición instantánea de dicha primera mezcla pero por debajo de una temperatura que daría como resultado una formación sustancial de óxidos de nitrógeno, para producir un primer efluente gaseoso; proporcionar un componente que contiene combustible carbonoso diferente de dicha primera mezcla, teniendo el combustible en dicho componente que contiene combustible una temperatura de llama adiabática de al menos aproximadamente 1810ºC, cuando se quema con una cantidad estequiométrica de aire; y mezclar dicho primer efluente y dicho componente que contiene combustible formando una segunda mezcla que tiene una temperatura al mezclarse, al menos suficiente para sostener una combustión homogénea de dicha segunda mezcla y que tiene una temperatura de llama adiabática sustancialmente por encima de la temperatura del primer efluente pero por debajo de aproximadamente 2040ºC, con lo cual se quema homogéneamente dicha mezcla produciendo un segundo efluente gaseoso.
