Abstract

Improvements in the construction of shut-off valves of the type comprising a valve body having a bore through it and a pair of conduits intercepting the bore and being practically perpendicular to a bore axis; a valve plug located within the bore, for effecting a selective rotation between an open position and a closed position, to respectively align and misalign a port that passes through the plug, with respect to the ducts; and a first circumferential sealing device between the obturator and the bore above the port and the conduits, and a second circumferential sealing device between the obturator and the bore below the port and the conduits, to prevent fluid from escaping from inside the obturator valve and to balance the pressure of the fluid acting on the obturator; characterized in that the bore is formed with a first circumferential semicircular groove formed in its inner surface, and if obturator with an opposite circumferential semicircular groove formed in its outer surface, the first groove and the opposite groove defining a circumferential groove between the obturator and the bore, the body having a circular orifice that traverses it and is aligned tangentially with the channel, and a flexible rod that conforms with clearance in cross section to the channel and transverse the orifice and is located circumferentially around the channel.
