Abstract

Un método de recubrir fibras de vidrio que comprende pasar dichas fibras, a una temperatura de hasta aproximadamente 54ºC, sobre un aplicador humedecido con una dispersión acuosa que contiene partículas emulsionadas de un formador de película que tienen un núcleo que es predominamente un polímero de un metacrilato que contiene por los menos 5% en peso de metacrilato de metilo y una envoltura exterior de un material polímero formador de película que tiene una Tg de aproximadamente 10ºC o menos, después de lo cual las fibras se enrollan en un mandril para obtener una bobina y se seca ésta a una temperatura comprendida entre la ambiente y unos 130ºC, con lo cual se fija la capa de recubrimiento depositada sobre las fibras.
