Abstract

Apparatus for desalination of seawater, characterized in that it consists of a vertically arranged column and divided into several cylindrical sections, each of which comprises the following elements: a) two film evaporators equipped with two sets of vertical tubes and sections preferably in the form of a circular segment, without an outer jacket; b) two cuvettes, each of which is connected: at the bottom with the upper surface of the tubes of one of the film evaporators of the same section, while in the last section, free of film evaporators, said cuvette it is connected to the brine discharge pipe; at the top with the bottom surface of the tubes of one of the film evaporators of the overlapping section, while in the first section said trays are connected to the tube for feeding the seawater; c) a lamination system (bottleneck) arranged at the bottom of each bucket and with the purpose of allowing the brine to pass from the bucket to the surface of the tubes arranged below, dissipating the positive pressure difference between the basin and said tube surface; d) holes made in the upper part of each bucket, except for the bucket in the first section; e) one or more siphon tubes to extract the condensate accumulated at the bottom of each section and to reintroduce it at the intermediate point of the following section; f) a tube set exchanger, preferably arranged horizontally, to preheat seawater, the preheating means being the steam produced in each individual stage, and also intended to condense all the steam in the last section; g) devices to transfer the inert gases that may be present from one section to the next, to the vacuum station; h) tubes for feeding seawater; i) tubes for brine discharge; l) fresh water discharge pipes; m) tubes for the introduction of primary steam; n) tubes for connection to the vacuum system.
