Abstract

A curved corrugated plate P, e.g. of metal or rigid plastics material such as superpolyamide, has assembly-apertures 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 on the flank portions of the corrugations, arranged in at least one row adjacent each of longitudinal edges 3, 4 and the circumferential edges 5, 6. The apertures of the opposite edge portions are positioned on the flanks of the corrugations so that when two similar plates are assembled with their corresponding edge portions overlapping to form part of a segmented structural plate pipe or the like, pairs of apertures align coaxially. As shown, plate P in Fig. 1 comprises two rows of apertures adjacent each of the edges 3 and 4. Each pair of aligned apertures receives a fastening element, e.g. a bolt and nut optionally including a washer. Each plate may be provided with one or two corner-notches 17 to obviate having to deform the overlapping corner portions during the axial assembly of annular structures V2, V3 (Fig. 3) to form a pipe. (The circumferential edges of each plate are formed by male and female flanks of the corrugations so that the male flank of one plate fits against the female flank of an axially adjacent plate). The plate may be used as part of segmented structural plate pipes of non-circular cross-sections (Fig. 12, not shown), or non-annular sections.
