Abstract

The gas supply to a burner 14 of a forced circulation water heater is through an L-shaped fitting 9a in the two arms 9, 10 of which are disposed spring-loaded plate valves 11, 13. The two valves are connected respectively via push rods arranged in a cruciform pattern to a diaphragm actuator 12 responsive to water pressure in Venturi 4 and an electromagnet 15 which is in circuit with a switch 81 controlled by a thermostat 8 in the water feed pipe 6. An excess water temperature thermostat 7 controls a switch 71 in circuit with the electromagnet and the pump 2 so that on excess temperature both valves close. An electronic flame monitor is also in circuit with the electromagnet.
