Abstract

985,962. Electric water heaters. P. F. BANGERT. Feb. 15, 1963, No. 6350/63. Heading H5H. A water heater comprises a water tank housing a heating coil in the form of two spaced apart flat spirals lying in planes generally perpendicular to that of the lid of the tank. As shown, the water heater comprises a casing 2 and a cover 3 mounted on a base-plate 1 with a heating element 14 supplied by wiring 15 through contacts 12, 13 with pilot light 16 across the circuit. When the water supply to the heater is turned on by a suitable valve (Fig. 3, not shown), water enters through a pipe (not shown) into the nozzle of a pressure switch 6 then into casing 2, the pressure of the water causing bellows 10 to expand so that pin 11 rises and closes contacts 12, 13, energizing element 14, so that the water is heated as it flows through the heater and out through tube 5 and exit pipe 4. Preferably element 14 is of the sheathed type.
