Abstract
Improvements introduced in the object of the main patent No. 352,710, applied for on April 13, 1968, by: "a process for the preparation of a supported catalyst", by precipitation of a metal salt, a metal oxide or a metal on particles carriers from a solution of a soluble form thereon, suspending a finely divided carrier material in a solution containing the catalytic material and effecting a gradual and homogeneous in situ generation of hydroxyl ions in the solution, whereby the increase in the hydroxyl ion concentration is high enough to precipitate the catalytic material on the carrier, but too small to nucleate the pure precipitate in the solution, the transport of the still soluble catalyst material to the carrier being greater than or equal to the speed of generation of hydroxyl ions in the solution, as a result of which the catalytic material is precipit in essence exclusively on the carrier material suspended in the form of a hydroxide or an insoluble salt, after which the carrier particles thus charged are separated from the solution, dried and, if desired, calcined and reduced; in which the gradual homogeneous increase of hydroxyl ions is effected by gradually injecting an alkaline solution into a stirred suspension of the carrier material in the solution of the catalytic material.
