Abstract
1497157 Rutoside derivative ZYMA SA 21 March 1975 [9 April 1974] 12020/75 Headings C2C and C2B 7 - Mono - O - (# - hydroxyethyl) - rutoside is prepared by reacting in an at least partially aqueous medium, rutoside with a boric acid alkali metal salt, e.g. borax, in an amount substantially not exceeding the amount necessary to form the complex of Formula I in which R = rhamnosido-glucose and M = alkali metal, reacting this complex with ethylene oxide to form the mono-O-(#-hydroxyethyl) derivative in the 7-position, and freeing the groups blocked by the boric acid complex by treatment in an at least partially aqueous medium.
