Abstract
A process for the preparation of a metal-containing material or a supported metal compound of the type in which particulate support material is maintained in suspension in an aqueous medium by stirring said aqueous medium, said solution medium containing one or more soluble compounds of metal or metals, and precipitating by means of a precipitation reaction said metal or metals in elemental form or in the form of insoluble compounds from said aqueous medium, the precipitation being controlled so that the precipitate forms on the suspended support particles and not in the mass of the aqueous medium; wherein said soluble metal or metal compounds or compounds are introduced into the liquid medium by injecting below the surface of the stirred liquid medium a solution of said soluble metal or metal compounds or compounds at a rate of not more than 0.05 mol- gram of said soluble compound (s)/minute/liter of said suspension, and said stirred suspension contains a pH controlling agent to adjust the pH thereof.
