Abstract
Procedure for the continuous purification of a zinc solution, especially intended for the electrolytic preparation of zinc, by adding zinc particles in order to carry out a cementation that causes the precipitation of metallic impurities from the solution, characterized in that : the necessary cementation for the desired purification is carried out in at least one fluidized bed formed of zinc granules that is kept in suspension in an upward stream of the solution to be purified and that is simultaneously subjected to a transverse movement that gives it a component of transverse velocity with respect to this updraft, so that the granules suspended within the fluidized bed experience repeated collisions during cementing, that the impurities precipitated on the granules undergo continuous scaling resulting from these collisions, and that the granule surface is thus released with continuously from the precipitates formed there during cementing; the fluidized bed is continuously fed with zinc granules having a predetermined average size; and the feeding of the granules and the speed of said updraft are regulated as a function of each other and of the size of the granules, so as to maintain the average porosity of the fluidized bed at a value corresponding to an optimal cementing speed in the bed, to dissolve the suspended zinc granules and consume them for the most part until they reach a remarkably reduced size, to which they are dragged, at the same time as the precipitated impurities, by the stream of solution leaving the fluidized bed .
