Abstract

A disposable reaction container has a lower section with two separate lower compartments 24 and 26 and an upper section 14 having a single storage chamber 16 and 18, respectively associated with each lower compartment. Storage chambers 16 and 18 are provided with encircling ribs 52 which are adapted to hold tablets T in position until, on the application of force to the top of the storage chambers, the "top-hat" shape of the chambers is inverted and the tablets are allowed to fall into the lower compartments 24 or 26. Flange 38 encircles the upper perimeter of lower sections 12 while flange 44 encircles the lower perimeter of storage section 14, the rectangles formed by each flange being of equal size and dimension enabling the upper and lower sections to be heat-sealed to one another when these members are formed from a plastics material, and portions 45 of each flange being of extended width so enabling a code area 46 to be formed. The walls of the containers may be rigid but are preferably flexible to assist in optical analysis techniques. In a further embodiment each storage chamber may be tapered so as to hold tablets of different diameters, Fig. 5 (not shown).
