Abstract
In a cascade apparatus for developer containing a magnetic carrier, the developer is collected at the lower end of the development zone on a moving belt to which the developer is attracted by a magnetic field. The magnetic field may be produced by a magnetic roller 22 over which the belt 18 passes. The developer is then transported to the upper region of the development zone by the belt to which the developer adheres through the provision of a magnetic plate 24 comprising a plurality of magnets Fig. 3 (not shown). An upper roller 20 may also be magnetic. The developer is removed from the belt by a blade 26 to fall on to the photoconductive surface 28. A plurality of such development stations may be employed, for example in colour reproduction Fig.4 (not shown) using an endless xerographic belt (38).
