Abstract

1330655 Electro-photographic copying machine EASTMAN KODAK CO 24 Sept 1970 [26 Sept 1969] 45554/70 Heading G2H An electro-photographic copying apparatus comprises a transparent support 11 for a photoconductive member 12 mounted on a drum D, an exposure slit 28 and an original document 25 transport device comprising a carriage C arranged for movement from an initial position past the exposure slit to a final position, an endless belt 36 extending around drum D for moving the carriage past the slit in synchronism with movement of support 11 past an exposure station and a clamp having an armature 41 of solenoid 40 for releasably connecting the endless belt 36 to carriage C. The clamp is energized by switch 39 which is in the on position when in contact with support 11. When the clamp is released the carriage is returned to its initial position by the weight 33. Instead of a clamp the carriage may have lugs thereon for co-operation with corresponding lugs on belt 36, see Fig.3 (not shown).
