Abstract
1476465 Copying apparatus XEROX CORP 20 Nov 1974 [27 Dec 1973] 50281/74 Heading G2X [Also in Division B6] A copying apparatus, e.g. of the type in which a heat image is formed on a delayed-tack adhesive web 10, comprises development means, e.g. magnetic brush 60; cleaning means, e.g. brush 58; an image member, e.g. web 10, capable of bearing a developable image thereon and means for moving the image member in opposite directions past the development and cleaning means. The image member moves in one direction, e.g. from spool 12 to spool 24, to receive toner particles presented by the development means and in the opposite direction for cleaning, the cleaning means being removed from its operative position as the image member moves in the said one direction to avoid detriment to the image. In Fig. 1, image-wise heat softening occurs as the delayed-tack adhesive web 10 passes the lamp 28 in contact with the original 88. The web then picks up ferromagnetic toner particles 34 and passes on to spool 24. The web reverses after the entire image has been transferred to web 10 and solenoid 53 is energized to pivot cleaner brush 58 upwardly to remove excess toner particles 34. A feed roll 74 then picks up a copy sheet from stack 69, which sheet then receives the image from web 10 as they pass the lamp 28. The copy sheet emerges at 84. In Fig. 1, the toner brush 60 is pivoted away from web 10 when the cleaner brush 58 is pivoted towards the web; in a modification, the toner brush is permanently in its operative position. Instead of using a copysheet, the developed image may be fused on to web 10.
