Abstract

A tubular knitted fabric 1 is extracted from a liquid bath and an air bubble 13 is trapped therein by the sealing effect of liquid running back into the bath from nip rollers 9, 10. The roller pair 6, 20 act to sense the size of the bubble (the roller 20 actuating switch 23 to inject air through the fabric to increase bubble size if necessary). A frame 8 tensions and supports the fabric and it thus can assume a fine relaxed mesh shape.
