Abstract

In a razor blade cartridge in which a ribbon blade 18 moves from a supply reel 14 along a platform 20 to a take-up reel 16, the end of the blade being attached to an arbor 22 which is rotated to advance a new shaving length 18a into shaving position, a blade shaving length counting mechanism is provided which comprises a water resistant tape 50 drawn from a supply reel 34 past a window 42 to a take-up reel 52, the drive shaft 58 of which is driven from the arbor 22, the tape bearing numerals 60 which are visual at the window 42 and each numeral indicating the number of unused lengths 18a still remaining on the blade 18. The tape is located beneath the window aperture by members (44), Fig. 5 (not shown), and 46. The blade and take-up reels may be a unitary structure.
