Abstract
A magnetic shift arrangement for shifting the beam of a cathode-ray tube e.g. the " blue " beam of a colour T.V. receiver, comprises a cylindrical magnet 1 magnetized along a diameter and disposed between two semi-cylindrical shells 3 and 4 of magnetic material, the shell 3 being provided with a projection 5 carrying a polepiece 6 and the shell 4 being provided with projections 7 and 8 carrying polepieces 9 and 10 so that the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field between the polepieces may be varied by rotating the magnet 1. The polepieces are shaped to follow the curvature of the neck of a cathode-ray tube, and the polepieces 9 and 10 may be riveted to a ring (13, Fig. 3, not shown) of non-magnetic material adapted to encircle the neck of the tube. A coil (15) may be wound round the projection 5 and supplied with parabolic and/or sawtooth currents to provide dynamic convergence.
