Abstract

A doll head support mechanism, allowing limited movement of the head with respect to the body, comprises an upwardly facing seat within the body, an element non-rotatably fixed to the head and having a downwardly facing seat adapted to rest on the first seat, at least one of the seats being saddle-shaped and their engagement permitting limited rotary movement of the element in both directions from equilibrium, the saddle shape causing the element to rise relative to the doll body when rotated from the medial, i.e. equilibrium position. Means are included to journal said element for rotation on an axis parallel to the vertical axis of the doll body. Preferably the seats have V-shaped profiles as shown in fig. 5, wherein the element is a spindle bifurcated at the lower end (13). Biasing means may be included to hold ithe downwardly facing seat in a vertical plane perpendicular to the vertical plane of the upwardly facing seat. A magnet may be placed in the doll's mouth so that the head may be turned by use of an external magnetic body, e.g. a feeding utensil. The connection between the element and head may comprise interlocking parts, fitted loosely enough to permit a free nodding movement of the head.
