Abstract
Air flowing through an inlet 15 to a pipe 11 due to the motion of the vehicle helps extract I. C. engine exhaust gases which flow via a silencer (not shown) and an inlet 13 into a pipe 10, the two pipes communicating through reactangular apertures 16, 17 in their side walls and a connecting duct 19. The other ends (not shown) of the two pipes are open to provide outlets for the exhaust gases and air. Each of the apertures 16, 17 may be replaced by three circular apertures, and pipe 11 may be substantially shorter than pipe 10 and may partially embrace pipe.10 thus dispensing with the connecting duct 19.
