Abstract

An axle mounting for two articulated rail vehicles 1 and 2, connected by a swivel joint 3, is characterized in that each axle box 4 bears, with the interposition of springs 9, on a longitudinal beam 6 which has rigidly secured to it axle-box guides 12 which slide in slideways 11, said beam being secured to the vehicles by shackles 7 connected to suspension brackets 8. Attached to each beam are two vertical spindles 14 on which rollers 15 are mounted. Each roller is located between two vertical guides 16 longitudinally mounted on the vehicles, this arrangement allowing a limited amount of angular horizontal movement between the vehicles when a curve is negotiated. In a further embodiment, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the beams (6) at opposite ends of the axle are connected by bars (17), one either side of the axle, each bar being attached to a triangular plate (18) which is resiliently mounted on a vertical spindle (23) secured to the rail vehicle in its longitudinal axis.
