Abstract
A method of manufacturing a sintered body of iron, zinc and manganese ferrites, magnetically soft, by presintering a mixture of manganese oxide, zinc and iron, each of whose oxides can be replaced totally or partially by other compounds of said metals which, under the conditions existing during presinterization, can be converted into oxides, followed by cooling and spraying of the presintered product, shaping and final sintering of the formed body, characterized on the one hand, by a composition of the mixture to presintend from 24.5 to 28.5 mole percent of MnO and 53.0 mole percent of Fe2O3, and the rest of ZnO, or a composition corresponding to it, and characterized, on the other hand, by a combination of a number of measurements to be carried out in the order indicated below: a) during the final sintering that takes place in a gaseous atmosphere consisting of at least 95% by volume in oxygen the heating is carried out at a temperature between the limits of 1,370º C and 1,430º C after which the temperature is maintained between these limits for a period of time of 3 hours maximum at least 15 minutes, and then it is carried out the cooling; b) during cooling, a point in the temperature range between 1,310 and 1,250ºC is started with a gradual decrease in the oxygen content of the gaseous atmosphere in such a way that at a temperature of 1,150ºC this gaseous atmosphere contains only a maximum of 0 , 2% by volume of oxygen; c) while maintaining an oxygen content of the gaseous atmosphere of maximum 0.2% by volume, cooling is continued; d) while the evaporation of zinc from the resulting sintered body is suppressed, this sintered body is heated up to a temperature between the limits of 1,250 and 1,310º C in a gaseous atmosphere with an oxygen content between 0,05 and 1% by volume, after of which the temperature between these limits is maintained for a period of time between 5 and 10 hours; e) the sintered body is finally cooled again, this time in a gaseous atmosphere having an oxygen content of 0.1% by volume at most.
