Abstract

A priming charge 8 used to fire a main charge 3 is ignited by a nose fuze (2), Fig. 1 (not shown), the charge 8 being housed in a gas distributer disc 6 spaced from the charge 3 by a ring 11. The disc 6, which is held in position by the upset edge 5 of the charge casing 4, has, near its edge, spaced openings 10 and at the centre of the disc is a housing 7 for the charge 8. The charge 3 may be a light-producing composition. Charge 8 is ignited by the fuze 2 through a central opening 9 and the hot gases generated pass through the opening and are distributed over the charge 3 before escaping through the holes 10. The hot gases ignite charge 3 and the increased pressure then produced ruptures the disc G. The invention may be applied also to ammunition projectiles and rockets.
