Abstract

A locking device (1) serves to connect two parts (8) to one another. One of the parts has a non-circular, elongated hole (2), and a basic locking body (6) is arranged at the other part. Rotatably fastened to the basic body (6) is a connecting block (9), the guide end of which has a shape which can extend through the elongated hole and has laterally projecting ends. The connecting block (9) can be rotated between an engagement position in which the ends project beyond the periphery of the hole and a release position in which the ends do not project beyond the periphery. Normally the ends are in the engagement position. The periphery of the hole (2) interacts with the guide surfaces (9) like a cam curve in order to automatically rotate the ends into the release position when the connecting block (9) enters the hole (2). An elastic or flexible element (7) acts on the connecting block (9) and forces it into the locking position, but the connecting block (9) can be moved into the release position by hand.
