Abstract
In order to prevent, in this kind of heating furnace, local overheating of the product 11 to be heated and of the refractory lining in the region of burners in the upper furnace, it is proposed to equip the heating furnace with such a small furnace chamber height above the support devices, e.g. slide pipes 10, such that the furnace roof 13 runs nearly directly above the product 11 to be heated, and essentially to provide only the furnace chamber 14 lying beneath the support devices 10 with burners 15 or 22. A transfer of heat to the side and top surfaces of the product to be heated without overheating is made possible by the adjustable buoyancy of the flue gases from the lower furnace to the upper furnace.
