Abstract

The upper wall of the furnace comprises parallel beams 26, 28, 30 forming a horizontal supporting structure, fixed refractory blocks 32, 34, 36 in the shape of a truncated pyramid suspended from the beam of the supporting structure by a hanger of inverted T-shape engaging two adjacent blocks, the blocks being arranged end-to-end in rows each presenting two upwardly inclined faces; and removable refractory blocks 50, 54, 56 in the shape of inverted truncated pyramids arranged in end- to-end rows each resting on the supporting faces and facing two adjacent rows of fixed refractory blocks, each removable refractory block being a solid block or a block provided with a burner body.
