Abstract

PURPOSE: To simply remove skid mark from steel material by providing an invertor for steel materials to be heated to a position where the materials to be heated in a continuous heating furnace are exposed to burner flame and high- temperature combustion gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Material to be heated 1, e.g., steel ingot or strip, charged from side of a furnace is heated while being fed on a skid rail in the furnace, and taken out of the other side of the furnace. An inverter 20 for the material 1 to be heated is provided at a place where the material 1 to be heated is exposed to burner flame and a high-temperature combustion atmosphere, e.g., the hearth 4 in a soaking zone. Thus, skid mark at low temperatures is heated by radiation heat and combustion gas atmosphere in the furnace and can therefore be removed simply.
