Improvements introduced in gaseous incandescent electric lamps that have a current circuit in which two support wires are provided sealed to the ampoule wall and the filament consists of tungsten, lamps in which the ampoule space contains a small amount of free or bound iodine, characterized in that in the normal operating conditions of the lamp, a temperature that is greater than 300º C and lower than 0º C, at least lower than 1200º C prevails on the whole inner side of the ampoule, and that each of the ends of the filament is connected to the part of the associated support wire, located within the ampoule space, through a thyriform element of a thermal resistance such that the ends of the filament exhibit an operating temperature of at least 900º C and preferably of at least 1200º C, these elements consisting of at least their free surfaces, of a metal or an alloy which, in the operating conditions prevailing in the lamp, has a resistance to attack by atonic iodine which is at least four times the resistance of tungsten at these temperatures, and under these operating conditions.
